Default Getting started with the JAVA environment
I am trying to get back into JAVA after being away for a while, things seem to have changed a great deal.

I need to know what specific software versions I need to obtain (ie. JVM JDK etc.) and specific SUN web site to get it.

Get the JDK from http://java.sun.com/j2se
Get an IDE, either JBuilder (big download) or Eclipse (Personal Computer World May 2003).

Beginning books I found really good:
Big Java by Cay Horstmann
Java 2 Primer Plus by Haines and Potts
JSTL in action by Shawn Bayern
