Default Running asserts in JCreator

I am using Ivor Horton's (J 2 1.4) with the recomended JCreator
and can not get asserts to work.

I do not understand CLASSPATH stuff, nor where to enter
the likes of javac. -source 1.4 TryAssertions. java

Step-by-step help would be appreciated.

Thank you
