Default REPORT DISTRIBUTION OF WORD LENGHTS FROM A TEXT

A SCRIPT WRITTEN IN BOURNE SHELL WITHOUT USIN AWK LANGUAGE TO REPORT THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE WORDS LENGHT FROM A TEX FILE. THE OUT PUT SHOULD BE LIKE THIS:
COUNT LENGHT
1 1
2 3
. .
m n

Why would you not use perl? Is it likely not to be available to you - it'd be a matter of a few lines. hey, and WHAT'S WITH THE SHOUTING!
