Default Connecting a C# application to a MySQL DB

I want to connect a C# app to a MySQL Db but keep getting an error message telling me that the adapter type is incorrect. I have tried both the OLE and SQL adapters. with the MyODBC as the connection type.

Firstly download the MDAC 2.8 (available from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en)
at time of writing this was most recent.

Then ensure MyODBC has been downloaded. This is available form MySQL website under downloads. I used a dummy Access connection for testing the connection proving the drivers worked. After this I used the connection string from http://www.connectionstrings.com. If this fails, try the instructions at http://www.planetsourcecode.com/vb/s...1288&lngWId=10 selecting .NET when it asked for the forum you require. It is entended for VB .NET users, but it is easy enough to adapt to C#, using your current connection string.

when using the URLs, it might be worth copying them to the clipboard and pasting them, when I looked at this message, half the URLs didn't render correctly!

Hope that works for you
