Default HIGH RESOLUTION TIMER WITH HARDWARE DRIVEN EVENT

I'm looking for a high resolution with a hardware driven event, As I know, Computer hardware consists of various types of timers. But i dont know how to access them in VB.NET
I'm wondering if anyone could help me
