Default .Net Framework

I am VB.Net and ASP.Net developer. I used to listen ppl say about .Net Framework.

What is scope of the .Net framework ?

How my knowledge in VB.Net and ASP.Net can assist myself in this .Net Framework programming ?

Can anyone explain the above.

The .net framework is a set of software components created by Microsoft to allow developers to create applications easier. Instead of creating everything, the developers just need to import these components into their applications and use it. It is similiar to Java classes provided Sun Java SDK, but the components are languages independence. It can be use by VB.net or C#.net.

Thanks and Regards.
