Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding import of an Oracle database using a script. I have an Oracle database running on my system (Windows) and I have to export it to another machine using a script. I will personally have no access to that machine. I have to create a script along with an Oracle dump file that will export the database there.

Can someone point me to the best way of doing this? I do not have much experience with Oracle and am in a real dilemma.

Do you really want to export the entire database? Or just a single schema of the database?

I assume you are being asked to create a dump file and a script that will import the dump file on the target database. What version of Oracle is present on both systems? What character sets are the two databases using?

Thanks for replying :-) The version of Oracle is 9i. I think I will have to create a database instance on the remote machine and import the dump file into it, or is there a better way.

The problem is that I will have no access to that machine. So I have to make this installation script as automatic as possible.

The character set that my source database is using is WE8MSWIN1252. However, I have to create the target database as well, so it should not be a problem, I think.
