How to customise class.database.php

Hi all,
I juts realised(?) that I can't use the class.database.php mentioned in wrox's "Professional PHP5- page 158" to work with more than one table in delete,update operations. Again I can't see any option to add other conditions like limit in these functions.

Is this possible to configure them to incorporate these additions?
