Dynamic Buttons in PHP

Hey,

Creating a website to show my pictures and I want the site to have a series of numbered buttons at the top of the page. However, as I will be adding more pics over time what I would like is for the site to know how many pictures are in my file and to create the appropriate amount of links!

No idea how to do this though??
