Default Java tools

Hi, I've got a 2001 copy of Java Mobile Programming and it talks about using Forte as an IDE. I'm running Windoes XP and have got Java Studio Enterprise 8 as an IDE. Do I need to find a windows version of Forte to help me with the coding and development or can I just plug the code examples straight into Studio?
I've tried making MIDlets for running on mobile phones but Studio doesn't seem to be able to help, am I missing something?
thanks
