Default GenericObject class from Professional PHP5

In chapter seven of Professional PHP5, they discuss the GenericObject class. The queries all use an index which is automatically generated by the database to retrieve rows. The author sais that this makes since in almost all scenarios to use the index as the primary key. I use email addresses to identify users on my site. Is there anything wrong with this? According to the book there is.

Thank you
