Default send & recive mails from exchange & lotus sever


I need to develop a vb6 dll which will handle sending and recieving mails from Exchange or Louts.
Can i develop a generic code for this ?
Can any one let me know which technology ( Like MAPI,CDO,CMC, Simple MAPI, any other)should i adapt in either either case of developing generic code or seperate code for each server.

you have to used lotus notes dlls to send mails to lotus notes server.
