I am writing a search routine using Visual Basic 6.0 to
query the Indexing Service on a remote machine. I am
having the following problems:

If I use the Indexing Service Query Object provided by
Microsoft, I am getting an error when my query has over
815 clauses in the query parameter of the query object.
Is this a limit of the Query Object or the Query language
it is using?

If I use SQL through ADO I do not run into this issue,
however I cannot find a way to set up a remote connection
using the connection object. Does anyone know how to do
this?

I know that link. However, that allows me to connect to the Index Server on my machine. I want to remotely connect to an Index Server on a different machine.

Just to update this. I have found a way to remotely connect via SQL. However, this is not the answer to the question. It appears to be a limitation of querying the Index Server remotely. I can workaround with a remote COM+ object, but I am hoping for an answer without having to resort to this. Can anyone provide me with any limitations of querying the Index Server remotely (I know this is a bit off topic, but there doesn't appear to be any forums on the Index Server on wrox)?
