hello friends!!!

i want to zip a file using vb6.0 code....
plz help me out by giving solution of this problem....
plz provide the code if possible....

hi there..

they are controls out there that zip files, too...

one of them is XceedZip (you need to register it..)

brians solutions involves that you have to distribute a zip exe or have it installed before your application...

In XP and later, yes you can create Zip files through windows, how you get a handle on that process I don't know.

Here is a pretty simple example with source code:

And something similiar to what Brian suggested, Shell WinZip in your app to create the archive. (Of course, I make the assumption you have WinZip installed on your machine.)

I use a control called aZip. Using azip32.ocx and aunxip32.ocx you can perform zipping and unzipping in code. You can set a callback to monitor progress also.

This has worked great for me for about seven years now and is pretty light weight.
