u hv an updated version of MS Excel and its absolutely correct
just use the above code to open and read Excel file

dear there is a easy way to find the coding for excel from vb
go to excel add visual basic tool bar from view->toolbars->visual basic,
then click on visual basic editor then it will open visual basic editor
from there go to help to find out ur reqrments
