Default Compressing and expanding files within an app

Hi Guys,

I have an application (written in MS ACCESS VBA) that needs to send a file to a user somewhere else. I am currently sending it via e'mail from within the app and it has been working fine for a long while.

However, the file is now getting larger (1.2 Mb) and since it compresses well with PK Zip (110 kb) I'm thinking it would be nice to be able to compress the file prior to sending.

I'm looking at using lz32.dll as this is the the native compression in Windows XP systems, however I'm finding a lot of problems locating any detailed (read:helpful) notes and examples of how to compress and expand the files.

Has anyone else used this successfully?

Unsuccessfully?

Any hints or suggestions?

TIA

Alan

There is an excellent article about zipping from VB.NET in http://www.codeproject.com/vb/net/CheckForZipFiles.asp which uses a SharpZipLib which is free to include in your projects.
