Default 3 Tier example

HI, I am trying to create a program with three tier,

those tiers are:
1)Presentation
2)Application
3)Datalayer

I would like to know how could I make a login function with those three layers.

My database is SQL SERVER 2000.

If you guys could give me a dummy program to demonstrate, it would be great.

Thank you,
