Wondering if anyone can help.

AS part of my final year project at Uni, I need to write a security part for a distributed database. It has been suggested that I make it a MAC address checker. I can not find anything that helps me with this other than sites that just give me the code. (Which I can't use for obvious reasons) Does anyone know of any books that could help me discover the solution for myself?

PLEASE DO NOT just send me the code!! (Although if there is a reference library I need that will help, that would be appreciated)

I already own Beginning VB .NET, Beginning VB .NET databases and Prof. VB .NET, so don't suggest any of them, I know they don't have the answer!!!

I am also stucked here...
I found out a code ,but it was developed in VB 6...
I have posted a topic here in this forum to find any classes which could give any info. about the MAC address...
