Struts: meant for Presentation tier ..it is good for desigining presentation tier ....
Springs: meant for Business tier....it is completely deals with interfaces instead of classes, it is very easy to inject the properties in spring IOC....

Spring AOP: good for security related coding

Hibernate: populate persistence framework......using this easily we can persist the data

Well Spring is lot more than just one layer, it provides API to replace Struts in Control layer and provides APIs for Model layer - to do database related operations Using JDBC or even using hibernate.
