Spring based Dao with callback Vs without callback

Friends,

I just wanted to know the advantages of spring based dao with call back implementation instead of using without call back. Which way would be the best solution for implementing spring based dao for projects. In my projects I'm using spring 2.5 and struts 1.3 and hibernate 3.0. Any help would be appreciated.
