Hi friends,

May I know what is the purpose and use of Transaction logs ? I have a particular situation.

I have yesterday's backup of a database. One batch updation operation which was done today was wrong and as a result a large number of records from one table is lost. Can I use yesterday's backup together with transaction log to restore all data prior to the wrong operation which lead to data loss ?

You can do a point in time restore, but only if you have your tran logs on differential backups. If you do not, and you choose to restore the previous days data, you will lose all data from the backup completion point forward.
