Default MSDE + Service Packs

Hi
I went to install SP3a (setup.bat) and an error message came back saying SQL Server is not installed on this machine.

My question is does MSDE need Service Packing and if so, how do you apply them. MSDE version is saying 2000-8.00.194

Thanks in advance for any pointers

Yes, there is a service pack specifically made for MSDE. There are 3 service packs that you can install, one is for SQL Server, another one for Analysis services and the other for MSDE. Go back to the SQL Server web site and look at the three file names for descriptions.

I believe that SP2 was the first SP for SQL Server that actually had any patch for MSDE, before that, bugs stayed in MSDE forever.
