Default MSDE2k

Anyone know how to install just MSDE2000? I have the SQL2k DEV CD – but due to licensing issues, I need to just install the MSDE2k.

M$ says to use the CD - but when I go to the MSDE folder and run setup - it still trys to install the full blown M$SQK 2k.

Hortoristic,

Nothing to worry about. Just insert your SQL Server 2000 CD or MS office 2000 or Office XP CD and run the Setup file.

Make sure u have no instances running on your machine.

Restart your machine and u will find a tiny server icon on your task bar.

Then use your SQL Server Dev Edn CD and install your Client tools and ur up and running

Hope this helps.

Reply if any issues.
