Can we install SQL Server on WinXP Pro?

Can We install SQL Server 2000 on windows XP Professional?

I get the following error when I install on XP.

Cannot register or find username etc

What could be wrong?

Is SQL Server 2k better on Windows 2000 or XP Professional ?

Yes, I am sat here running XP Pro with SQL Server 2000. I didn't install it myself though so can't help with your problem. Sorry!

I have installed SQL 2000 on XP Pro and did not have a problem.

Which type of user are you when installing and do they have admin rights.

Iam the administrator.Still not working.

Should I install MSDE 2000 default instance and then install SQL Server Database Instance and client tools ?

I had the problem when i installed the standard edition but when i tried the personal edition it worked.
