Default why doesn't my new database carry old user info?

Even though My new database (residing on a new SQL server)was restored from the old database on the old SQL server, it doesn't contain any user accounts from the old database. However, when I tried to add the same user account, the SQL enterprise manager prompted " user account already exists". So I ended up creating a brandnew user name, and of course I had to go into my conn file to update the user and password there.

I was wondering if there is any way for me to include user information when I restore a database. Thanks.

Cinderella
