Try the tools er-studio from Embarcadero.com. They have a reverse engeneering function that I am fairly sure supports the James Martin method. Visio may also or you can try a tool called ER-win. My preference is ER-Studio.

I don't understand why you need a "tutorial". I believe the "James Martin method" is a way of "displaying" an ER-Diagram. I believe all of the tools I listed can display with his method. But I may perhaps be ignorant and not know what the "James Martin method" is....... I don't believe its a method of development like Rational Rose has or six sigma, etc.

Method: I am very familiar with Data Modeling, but I am unfamiliar with James Martin. It would be helpful if you defined your "starting document". Most ERD software are either for modeling business processes or on the data or IT side. I use a suite of modeling tools that bridges the gap between data and business. I book you might find helpful is by David C. Hay entitled Data Model Patterns: Conventions of Thought, a small book but packed with many examples plus a good bibliography. It really depends on what you are trying to Model... I also have used CASE*Method-Entity Relationship Modeling, by Richard Barker, which is a guide to Oracle's conventions, but still a good book.

Hope this helps.

Is it possible the discussion is about methodologies described in the book called "Principles of Object Oriented Analysis and Design"? The book was writen by James Martin and may include some "methods" there.

Just trying the help and your questions got me curious....
