system assemblies corrupted

I am not sure how the system assemblies get registered in SQL 2005, but upon attempting a create assembly statement I get "Microsoft.VisualBasic cultere,version etc... not found in SQL Catalog". Well, the exact version of the system assembly is registered in my local's GAC, but I have no clue as to if it is regsistered correctly in sql server?
