Hi all. I have been supplied with a .BAK file for an SQL database. The backup is on my local machine. The SQL server we need to restore it to is remotely hosted by a large hosting company. Using SQL Server Management Studio I can connect to the remote database without a problem but when I try to restore the backup from a file it only allows me to view the remote machine's hard drive, not my local machine.

Does anyone know a way around this?

The only way to restore the backup to the remote server is to copy the .BAK file to the remote machine and then do the restore.

Annoying, but at least it can be done.
