I'm trying to set up log shipping on two 2003 servers. I created the shared backup directory on the secondary server but I can't get the backups to back up there. I'm getting the error:

Cannot open backup device '\\firebucad\dfm_shipped_logs\dfm.trn'. Operating system error 53(The network path was not found.).

I can browse to the share no problem.

I changed SQL server and SQL agent on both boxes to run on the domain administrator account. I opened the share permissions to everyone and the security to everyone. I've read tons of articles about creating these share but I'm missing something somewhere and I don't know what it is.

I didn't think I had to create a backup device since I need to keep backing up different logs to that location.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I did get this working... I think. I forgot to setup the monitoring when I started the log shipping.

I can save the logs on the primary server so I'm not getting the same error but things just don't seem right still. I can't tell if the secondary is getting the files and restoring them???
