Installing SQL2005 on home PC, get msg about ASP.NET account...

Hi all,

I'm sorry for being a newbyish dimwit, but... I bought VS2008, installed that successfully on my (un-networked) home PC, and am now trying to install the SQL2005 that came with it. The only account set up on this PC is "Mike" (me).

On the installation wizard's "Service Account" step, whether I choose "use the built-in System account" or "use a domain user account", and click Next (and then I think Next again), I get a message box:
"SQL Server Setup failed to obtain system account information for the ASP.NET account. To proceed, reinstall the .NET Framework, and then run SQL Server setup again".

How do I set up the ASP.NET account or bypass that step?

Frameworkwise, I have the following installed: Compact 2.0 SP2, Compact 3.5, regular 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1.

Hi there..

Is IIS correctly installed? if not, you can register asp to IIS using a command (I can't remember the command!!!! :( ).

Hi Gonzalo, that's it! I remembered a note buried deep in one of my documents where I throw nuggets of info over the years. If IIS is installed after the Framework, you have to do (on XP):
cd \windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 and then aspnet_regiis.exe -i
(IIS is required for SSRS.)
