Default Loading Images & Interact with Outlook

Hi Guys,
Does anybody know, or can refer me to a place where I can find something about:
1. loading an image, storing it in a database, and then displaying it back again.
2. Is it possible to automatically update a database by receiving an email? What about updating a database based on the contents of an email e.g., approve/not approve?
Like always, your help is really appreciated. Thanks.

1. Don't do it. Storing BLOBs (Binary Large OBjects) bloats the database for no appreciable gain. Store the path in the database

2. Certainly. If you had your own exchange server you could script something. There are probably other ways of doing this, I've never tried so I don't have many suggestions.
