Binary storage and retrieval

Hi guys.

Can anyone please teach me how to retrieve and store binary in SQL server? How does it look like under the binary image column of SQL if I have successfully inserted an image binary into it? does it show <Binary> even after I have inserted an image binary? Thanks!
