Please tell me the differences between Struts 1.x and Struts 2.x, which one should one use, what if i stick to 1.x? is it really necessary to upgrade an application to 2.x?

Struts1 and Struts2 are completely different.

If you start a new Project you should not start with Struts1 this is really out of date.

Maybe this Introduction in Struts2 can help you.

Struts2 is well designed and a good choose as Java Webframework..
