Building Apps with the EVDB API
EVDB.com serves as an open web services platform powering numerous third-party Events and Venues Database, including the Eventful.com (which is an Events Search, Notification, and Demand website). In this presentation, Brian and Chris will provide an overview of the EVDB web services architecture, a quick look at existing mashups and third-party applications built with the API, and build a live application with the EVDB API to show how it's done.

Presenters:

Brian Dear, Founder & Chairman, EVDB, Inc.
Brian Dear is founder and chairman of EVDB, Inc. Prior to EVDB, he was founding director of eBay Design Labs at eBay. Earlier work includes positions at Eazel, MP3.com, FlatWorks, RealNetworks, and Coconut Computing. His 25-year career in the online computing field has focused on developing sustainable online communities, e-commerce, collaboration, interactive multimedia, and search & discovery tools.

Chris Radcliff, Software Engineer, EVDB, Inc.
Chris Radcliff is a Software Engineer at EVDB and is the principal developer of the EVDB API. He is the author of the book "Perl for the Web," published in 2002 by New Riders. For over ten years Chris has been developing scalable Web-based applications using PHP, Perl, XML, SOAP, Java, and other tools. In the past year he's presented at a number of meetings and conferences including Mash Pit and Mashup Camp.
