Default remote install of com objects

ok, simple questions, is it possible to remotely instal COM objects on a server? I wrote a web site using COM dll's and now we're dumping our server and using a hosting company instead. Can I use component services remotely? the server is on win 2003, but my development computer is win 2000, so i need to upgrade? do i need to upgrade from visual studio 6 to .Net? Thanks in advance
-Brad
