Default pictures/images from Access on ADO form?

I'm having big problems trying to show pictures on a VB6 form from an access database. Can anyone tell me how to do this please? Do the pics in the access database have to be in a certain format etc? Ideally I'd like to use an image control over a picture control to automatically resize the image, and hopefully be able to use JPG pics over bitmaps. If this is not possible, could I use the OLE data type to achieve the same - as the pics will be stored in the access database in this format. I'm using an access2000 DB and VB6.0.
Thanks for reading - any help would be greatly appreciated.
Simon
