Default Using Crystal Reports

Hey folks I really need some assistance here.

I am in the process of converting an A2K DB to VB 6.0 (A2K back end) and need a way to get the A2K reports to work. I came across some information about Crystal Reports but have been unable to find it or get that installed. So my first question is: are Crystal Reports the solution and can you tell me how to get them up and running? Next, is there a way that the actual A2K reports can be called and opened from the VB application? If so could you please send an example of that procedure?

I really appreciate any advice and assistance that you can provide me.

hi there..

crystal reports doesn't come with vb6.. an old version was shipped with vb5... and the last version is 8.5 (i think)..

do a search on crystal report and you will find the info you want.. also im not sure you can convert reports from access to any format so you can open it..

Thank you gbianchi for your reply. It appears that Crystal Reports is not the answer I am looking for. Do you know of a way (that is included in VB 6.0) where reports can be generated for viewing and printing....????

I think you could use the VSView Reporting Edition. Here is the link for the company website http://home.componentone.com/

Thank you for the lead Gonzalo but I need some more information from you please. I tried to find the add-in that you spoke of and could not. Is it named something else or do I have to install it into the VB application from somewhere? I looked under Components (Controls & Designers) and the closest thing I found was Data Report - is this what you are talking about??

I appreciate your efforts to assist me.

Gonzalo... I finally got an opportunity to play with the Data Report that you suggested and found it to be effective for a small portion of what I need it for. It seems that it is not fully supported and I quote from MSDN...

Due to limitations of the Microsoft® Access OLE DB provider and ODBC driver, parameterized queries are not fully supported in the Data Environment when connecting to an Access database, because the driver and provider do not return information about parameters (like data type and direction) in the query.

Anyway for the portion that I can get to function for me do you know of any way to remove the print command button and export button on the activated form...??

Thanx in advance for your help again.
