Default Database compression in VB Express

Hi,

I want to write a simple database using visual basic 2005 Express which contains pictures. This I have been able to do but what I have not been able to resolve is how to compress the .mdf file following the deletion of records - records are deleted but the size of the database remains the same. I have searched over the web and can only find information relating specifically to SQL database managers. I want to be able to shrink the database through visual basic code and this has been my problem.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions on how I may do this?

Thanks,
Lee.

hi there.. I'm just shouting an idea without even looking for it in google.. is there any function that maybe you can run from another DB that cause your main DB to shrink?? I mean build a SP somewhere and run it...
