Default chapter 1 problem withVB.NET

I feel kind of stupid. I thought I put all the code in which was need for ch. 1, and, in the DESIGN view, the buttons appear as [u]O</u>K and E[u]x</u>it.
When I run the program, it does not show the [u]underlined</u> letters.
What did I do wrong?
Under the Text properties, I followed directions to the letter.

Press the ALT button once and you should see the underscores.

Not seeing the underscore is due to your general Windows settings. Change this from the Display Prop's - Appearance - Effects menu.
