Default Searching is so slow....

HI to all Programers

Second time i am telling my problem but now in short

data base = informix

front end = vb 6

form layout = masterchild

using ODBC for cnnectivity

so problem is when i search a specific record from table it take too much time to retrieve

the data there are so much records in the master table and on the base of primary key it get data from child table, number of rcords in child table are more then lac

so is there any other method for this. which work efficently i am using three methods

my procedure coding is given in my previous request.

For better suggetions i hope u will reply

'order by' is very slow, because all records must be retrieved before being ordered. The 'where' clause is efficient only if applied to a table column with a primary key.
Optimize a data base is not such an easy subject. As a first step, I will look which columns table have a promary key, and start querying by those only.

hi again
primary key column is invoice_no n i am also using indeces for sorting which is combined of sequence_no n invoice_no but still not getting the efficent result
