Default Data Transmission via VB

Hi. If you choose to respond to this, please put your answer in terms that a bum off the street could understand. I'm proficient with VB, but I get hazy in the more advanced aspects of it.

I want to write a program in VB that, at set times during the day, connects to the internet and transmits all of the files in a set folder, say, C:/myprogramdir/files/, to a web server. The files will most likely be Excel spreadsheets or Access databases.

Thanks to all in advance for your help.

Have you looked into using the the internet transfer control to send the files?

As to running it at set times each day, you can either schedule a task thro windows, or use the standard VB timer control.

I would have to know more about the situation, but I have done such a project. We set up ASP pages on the web server along with a COM+ enabled dll. We then sent the forms in a post using Microsoft's MSXML object to the ASP pages and handled it from there. Your method is going to depend on the architecture of the system. Can you install files on the Web Server? What are the size of the files you are sending? Is FTP enabled on the server? Can you use a Web Folder (a Windows folder that is web enabled so that it can be used on remote machines)?
