If you have a more generalized programming question and not necessarily a need for a dedicated Support person, there are plenty of people that would be glad to help on that front. ^^

Here's my situation: I need someone who can walk me through how I pick up user input on a form I have already created and put it into a file. Then allow the user to "search" the file for the info, retrieve it, update it and file it back. I just got involved in this last week, on a rush basis, after not having programmed since the days of GWBasic (in which I could do almost anything-I wrote accounting programs, etc). I have managed to self-teach myself around forms, controls, etc.in VB 2005, but I am having a tough time finding anything I can use on files. I am picking it up pretty quickly but I will need a couple of hours of help to get through this project, that's why I am willing to pay someone to "tutor" me. I went ahead and posted on rentacoder.com, as you suggested.

By Form I will assume you mean a Windows Form but by File what do you mean?

Is the data being stored in a Text File, a properitary file format, a database, etc?

I was able to create a .mdf file as that is what I could find the most info on. I could use any type of file since this application is all self-contained and the application is going to generate the data it is going to use. I have not invested that much time in the .mdf so I could do something different as long as I can store all the fields I have spec'd in my file layouts.

Ok, so you are using a database. This is how I would go about creating such an application myself.

So, let me see if i understand the Functional Requirements:
Application Accepts User Input
Application places data into a Row in a database
**Application provides search functionality for data already in the database
Application can retrieve relevant search results
Application can display data from a selected relevant result

**What elements do you want to be able to search on??

It depends on how much time you are requiring from a tutor and such but you can contact me at: douglas.c.parsons[at]gmail[dot]com with all of the details.
