I would like to know if it would be possible to have a VB App that can record the round trip time of an email?

The program need to send a mail to a certian mailbox on an hourly basis, record the send in a database and will pickup the auto reply message when returned and log the received time for that specific mail.

I know that there is allot of apps out there but I only require this functionality and spending money for this seems to be a waist at the moment... I am not sure where to start with this but if someone could point me in the right direction or know of an App that does this it would be great!
