Default Update excel cells on change of another program

Say in the contact listing page of an address book application
a portion (consist of a square of fields) is highlighted and is
drag&dropped into an excel worksheet. How do I make links
between these 2 program so that when I update the contact info
in the address book application, the corresponding fields in
excel worksheet will get updated automatically? What areas
should I be studying to make this happen. Is there any example
/tutorial to begin with? Any input is much appreciated.

Peter

(This question may have been asked before, I should have
spent more time looking into the archives. A full text search
may be good to provide)

Is the address book from proprietary software, ie Outlook, Act etc or is it from another VB app like excel or access

Hi John,
Thanks for replying.
I'm trying to write the address book to have this feature. That's why I'm asking
what kind of technology I need to do this.

Peter
