Using VB to get and set values in exchange 5.5

Dear all...
I am new to VB programming, but I somehow need to learn how to perform lookups into the exchange system, and change and append values... My basic needs are to set the Out-of-Office and get the mailbox storage size...

Anyone done anything of this?
