Default Streamreader question

Can someone direct me to a good source (website or book) for learning the ins & outs of using the streamreader object? I normally work with reading information from DBs, but was asked by a friend to "throw something together" to help him fix some txt files. Stumbling through the help section of VS.NET and I feel like I'm going in circles.

I appreciate any assistance.

Steve
