Default VB.net help

I have to design a order processing system where the system can add/delete customers, search for customers and calculate orders processed by the customer, also it has to produce some reports as well. I am a new user of VB.Net but I have done some research. I have learnt that I have to connect to a database but I'm not sure how to implement the other stuff. Can anyone offer any tips?
