Default Crystal Reports in VB.Net

Although I have written quite a lot of code in vb3/4/5 I'm new to vb.net. I was asked to write a small app that automated 3 processes:
1. Load approx 30 Crystal reports (one at a time created by other user).
2. Refresh the data (from one to two Excel files depending on which report).
3. Export the reports in .pdf format to a list of MS mail addresses.

I've looked at the Crystal reports Viewer but it dosn't appear to expose all of the objects/processes etc that are required. Am I missing something? Do I require Enterprise edition (currently using Professional)? Do I need Crystal Reports Enterprise (currently have standard ver XI)?
Pat.
