Default Connecting to AS400 via ODBC

I am using the IBM AS400 OLE DB Provider, and when setting up the data link properties I am able test the connection successfully when creating it, however if I then go and try to browse the tables, views etc under the data connection, in the server explorer I simply get a Connection Failure message.

Can anyone offer any advice on how I should go about connecting to the AS400 box through vb.net ??

thanks
Andrew

I have just now seen your query, it's very much same what I would like to learn.

If you have already got the solution, please send me the guideline (sample VB code, preferably VBA(Excel)-equivalent code if possible) on my email address [email protected]

Thanks

Amjad Mahmood

My query is as follows:

I urgently need help in automating data download from As400 and upload in my Excel-VBA-based Application.

On my PC I have the IBM Client Access which I use to logon to BPCS v.6.4.2

I know the library & Files/Tables names and field names.

Can you please provide me with a sample VBA with SQL (and Reference & connection setup syntaxes) so that I know the basic steps which are required to achieve the objective of connectivity and retrieval of data.
