Default Trying to guess around ActiveX=COM Components

Many available ActiveX=COM Components, which can be used to improve the functionalities from inside VBScripts, come with few or (almost) no help/tutorials/examples/samples how to use them... I found myself very frustated when I get an apparently good ActiveX=COM Component, but I cannot use it because I cannot guess the syntax and sequence of called functions/methods/proprieties...

My question is - Is there any "tip"/"trick" to "dissect" the ActiveX=COM files (DLL, OCX, TLB, EXE)?

By now, the best I could find is "DesertHill ObjectScope"...

What do you know and recommend to get around this situation?

Thanks.

Best regards.

For one thing, if you have Visual Basic 6 you can make a reference to the dll in the project properties and then declare an instance of a class in the dll. Intellisence will provide you with part of what you need. Also, you can view the exposed interfaces of the classes and enumerations in the dll using the Object Browser. Similar functionality might be available in the programming ide's with MS Word and Excel, and etc.

It should be noted that there are a number of considerations when using a COM dll from VBScript. For example, you can only use the default interface of an object.

How can I preview if an ActiveX=COM component will work with VBScript vs VBA vs VB6? Must I try and see errors, or are there any way to preview (avoiding to make error attempts)?
